There’s some construction going on across the road from where I work in Galway. The diggers are relentless. These are very early morning shots, I tired something different with the skinny tall shot, kind of like it.

The staff of a Barcelona restaurant having a quick smoke break. I passed the side street and doubled back to ask them could I take a photo of them. I could have sat there for 10 minutes composing and taking many pictures but I haven’t approached people much asking to take their portraits. And the guy second from right was either pretending to appear pensive or wasn’t very comfortable (working illegally per chance?)

So it’s a new year, which means new resolutions. So here are my resolutions, or photographic plans for the year….
1. Finish the upgrade from my photoblog to (this)proper website. It’s virtually completed now, I just need to complete the gallery and a some final fine-tuning.
2. Spend as long as it takes to go through everything in my camera manual and know/learn all the features and functions my camera has (and unleash them).
3. Finally get onto a few cafes/venues and get some photos exhibited.
4. Go along to the Galway Photo Club and see what it’s like.
5. Aquire (buy) a wide prime lens.
6. Frame some more pictures and hang them at home.
That’s it for the moment I think.

Some pictures of birds during the snow. The first two are very similar, I just wanted to show what a bit of editing does. I cropped tighter for the second one so the picture is filled more which I think looks better. I could have come up with a lot of titles, such as ‘I’m still not talking to you’, ‘you talking to me’, ‘bird(s) on a wire’, etc. The last one is just an evil looking crow.

I think collages are very simple to make but look impressive. You don’t need to have any great photos but they give a great overview of a story or the atmosphere of an event.
I think I might use this for any Christmas cards we (by we I mean my wife) send out this year.
