Claire & Garrett wedding, Clonmel

In e. Weddings by admin / October 31, 2014 / 0 Comments

The most recent wedding that I photographed was the most special one for me; Claire, my sister in-law was getting married so it was a family affair. Claire and Garrett got married in gorgeous Raheen House, Clonmel on a beautiful sunny day in September. It was an amazing day for everyone, with great location, touching and entertaining speeches, memorable food and lively music. For me I had the unique factor of having my family there; it was a novelty and put an extra smile on my face seeing and photographing my own kids and wife enjoying the day.

Claire & Garrett decided to have their civil ceremony in Raheen House as well, which is surrounded by lush gardens where I took the post-ceremony photographs. This added to the relaxed atmosphere of the day as we didn’t have to drive to another location for these photographs and miss part of the reception. As a surprise I gave them a wedding box containing a selection of photos from their special day when they returned from their honeymoon.  I believe it’s more personal and enjoyable to be able to view and handle real photos. I wish them both a long, healthy and fabulous married life.

Thank you so much for our fabulous wedding photographs. We absolutely love them!! It was a pleasure to have you photograph our special day and capture every moment and emotion on our wedding day.- Claire Kelleher

Let’s Get Married (Úna and Tony wedding part 2)

In d. People & Animals,e. Weddings by admin / January 10, 2014 / 0 Comments

This is part two of the wedding of Úna and Tony. The weather on the day of their wedding was very ‘unhelpful’. It poured just as the bride was about to leave her house for the church. Once in the church though everything ran smoothly. As you can see from the photos it was all smiles from everyone. Congratulations to the newly married couple!

Take Me To Church (Úna and Tony wedding part 1)

In d. People & Animals,e. Weddings by admin / January 7, 2014 / 0 Comments

I photographed Tony and Úna’s wedding in Cork just before Christmas, including the bride and groom getting ready in their houses. I enjoyed this as it’s less formulaic than photographing the ceremony in a church and it’s nice for the couple to have memories of getting ready. I’m very good friends with the couple so it was a relaxed afair (as much as that’s possible) and I think it made it easier for them that they know the photograpaher.

This is the first set of photographs from their big day, the rest will follow soon. Black and white works excellently for wedding photographs but I decided to keep the last two in colour. They’re of Úna, the bride when she was finished getting ready so she deserves to be seen in all her glory in colour!

Post title ‘Take Me To Church’ is a song by Irish artist Hozier. It’s his breakthrough single, after going viral on YouTube and Reddit.

My favourite photographs from 2012

I know it’s February so this is a bit old but here’s a video I created showcasing some of my favourite photographs from 2012.

My two highlights of the year were
1. I shot two weddings last year (some photos included in the video).

2. I was suprised and delighted to have a photograph of a man outside The Crane bar in Galway featured in the L.A. Times Travel section.

Anyway, I hope you had a great 2012 and enjoyed my photographs. Thanks for looking.

UCC Wedding Photos

Some photographs of the wedding of Rhona Campbell and Brendan Power at UCC (University College Cork) in July 2012. It was a great day for all and a very relaxed wedding (if that’s possible for the photographer). There were a few showers, we just about had enough time to get some photos after the ceremony on the grounds of UCC before the heavens opened up. The reception was at Fota Island Resort in a very nice intimate setting.

Congratulations to the newly wed couple and thanks for asking me to do the photography! I hope they enjoy their honeymoon and life together.
