MUSIC ALBUM COVER COLLAGE

I had some spare time to kill so decided to make an album cover collage of my album covers from my iTunes library. I like mainly indie/alternative (think Pixies, Jesus and Mary Chain, Arcade Fire, Morrissey etc.) and dance/electronic music. The image contains over 920 album covers and I’m planning on framing it to hang up at home. If you’d like to try this yourself visit http://www.instructables.com where you;ll find step-by-step instructions on how to make your own iTunes album cover collage.

The Vinyl Collection

I was strolling down a side street in Brussles and several boxes of vinyl albums outside a store caught my eye. As a music lover I was curious as to what the albums were and as a photographer I saw a potentially nice photograph- great vibrant colours that would make a great abstract photograph.

The Vinyl Collection is the title of an album by Norah Jones.

David Bowie- The Next Day

Every blog post in my photogrpahy website has a related music title. Why? Because I have a passion for photography and music, this is just a fun thing to link the two together.

As the whole world knows David Bowie is back. Back with a BANG; his new album The Next Day is getting great reviews. Here I’ve attempted to represent each song from David Bowie’s new album, The Next Day, with a related picture.

10 Reasons To Exist

In l. Text by admin / January 3, 2013 / 0 Comments

10 Reasons To Exist is rumoured to be album title from U2’s much anticipated new album, it’s currently the ‘working title’.
Photoblog.ie is my photography website and in this, the blog section, every blog post used to have a related music title. Why? Because I love photography and music and it’s a fun thing to link the two together. The title could be as simple as a band name, song or album title or maybe lyrics from a song; anything music related that the photograph makes me think of.

Below are some photographs of mine that are linked to some U2 albums titles. It’s simple to guess which photograph represents which album but it gives you a visual example of how I link photographs in blog posts to music references. When the new U2 album is released (10 reasons to exist maybe) I’m going to try to have a blog post and photo for each song title.

Maximo Park graffiti

Maximo Park Graffiti

Maximo park graffiti bench in Berlin, Germany

Maximo Park Graffiti

“I’ll do graffiti if you sing to me in French, What are you doing here if romance isn’t dead”
Mind your mouth as you walk with me,Take care ooh as you cross the street”

I saw this park bench when walking through a park in Berlin and Maximo Park just popped into my head. I always wondered what’s correct grammatically; does one ‘do’ graffiti?

Post title is the name of a British Rock Band Maximo Park and a song title of theirs ‘Graffiti’.

Andy Warhol meets Primal Scream

Andy Wahrol-Screamadelica collage

Screamadelica meets Andy Warhol

Famous line that make the hairs on many a middle aged person stand on their ends- “Just what is it that you want to do? We wanna be free. We wanna be free to do what we wanna do. And we wanna get loaded. And we wanna have a good time.”

Screamadelica, the iconic album from Scottish rockers Primal Scream is rated by many in the top 10 albums of all time, rated best of all time by Eve Barlow of NME. Screamadelica is the third studio album by Primal Scream, released in 1991 by Creation Records. For me, it’s an uplifting, euphoric journey of love and joy, an album that you can’t but dance to and feel invigorated and have a smile plastered on your face.

The album was produced by Andrew Weatherall and without his influence would have been a much different album.

In this Andy Warhol Screamadelica collage I created what I think would have been a great poster or flyer for a Primal Scream concert.

Heaven or Las Vegas

In b. Abstract/Arty,g.Colourful by admin / February 24, 2009 / 0 Comments

This is my attempt of a rough copy of ‘Heaven or Las Vegas’, a dreamy album by The Cocteau Twins. The technique is called ‘camera throwing’, literally throwing your camera in the air on a slightly long exposure.
