Echo Big Wheel of Liverpool (The Big Wheel Keeps On Turning)

In k.Buildings & Architecture by admin / February 15, 2013 / 0 Comments

The Liverpool Big Wheel (The Echo Wheel of Liverpool) is located on the piazza outside the Liverpool Echo Arena and Convention Centre, close to the Albert Dock in Liverpool, England. Both the Big Wheel and the Liverpool Echo Arena and Convention Centre are partially in this photograph.

What appeals to me about the photograph is the sense of symmetry building and the Big Wheel. I added a graduated filter as the sky was a dull grey.

The big wheel keeps on turning are lyrics taken from the timeless classic song Hymn of The Big Wheel by Massive Attack

England was hit by freezing temperatures in January 2013. I was flying to Liverpool so managed to capture some photos of the North West of England covered in snow.

Harrods (The Good Old Days)

Harrods

Harrods. Probably one of most famous shop in the world? To me Harrods is anyway. Maybe Macys and Hamleys are up there with it but Harrods has the element of style, Harrods oozes class and the wow factor.
When I was a child I used to visit my cousins in London and always looked forward to a trip to Harrods, watching with awe the magician and playing amongst the many, many toys.
In this Harrods photo I photoshopped out some cars and bits n pieces to try to make it look like Harrods from the past. I added the second photo to show what the original photo compared to the photoshopped version.

I want to ride my bicycle (part 2)

Barclays Cycle Hire is a public bicycle sharing scheme in London, United Kingdom. At launch there were 5,000 bicycles and 315 docking stations available in central London. I think it\’s a great idea and results in a lot more people cycling. 4 wheels bad, 2 wheels good.

London Red Telephone Booth

An iconic English landmark. I tried to take the photo from a different angle than the standard photo and feel that this stands out

I didn’t want to take the standard photo of Harrods (front of building) and am happy with this instead.

I took this photo taken from the eighteenth floor of The Jumeirah Carlton Tower, London. The London Eye glows like a ball, which stands out I think. The exposure was 10 seconds and I used the windowsill as my tripod.
