Galway Cathedral (Push The Sky Away)

In a. Galway,k.Buildings & Architecture by admin / January 15, 2013 / 1 Comment

An old photo of mine of Galway Cathedral, with a simple filter applied (in Flickr’s built in photo editor). I really have to start using Adobe Lightroom and learn how to make little changes, such as ‘remove’ the light in the bottom-right-corner which is distracting.

Push The Sky Away is the album title of the new album from Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds, to be released in February 2013.

Full Moon, Empty Heart (Belly song)

In f. Nature & Sky by admin / November 10, 2011 / 0 Comments

Here’s my token photo of a full moon. I think that every amateur photographer has taken a photo of a full moon at some stage.
I checked and the optimal settings are meant to be something like:
1/125 second
f 11 or so
lowest ISO possible

I saw the moon on my way home from work but by the time I arrived home it was already dark so I shoot at f2.8, 1/60 second and ISO 200 at 200mm. Ideally I’d have a longer zoom lens so I could crop closer without losing detail.

Blue Room (Galway Arts Festival Big Top)

Galway Arts Festival

The Galway Arts Festival is running at the moment. There’s a good range of entertainment at the Galway Arts Festival with the highlight (for me) being Misterman, an Enda Walsh one man play staring (Corkman) Cillian Murphy. The musical line up this year was uninspiring I though but I also heard that the budget has been reduced massively. (Two years ago Spiritualized supported Primal Scream!).

I made a collage but also added the photos individually as I think the motion effect is seen better in the larger photo.
If you’re visting Ireland during July it’s worth a trip to Galway for the Galway Arts Festival; the whole town is in party mode.

Blue Room is a song title from The Orb

Autobahn (66)

I took this long exposure picture standing on a bridge overlooking the motorway in Walldorf (near Heidleberg), Germany. The railing made a perfect substitute tripod. My fears were my camera dropping onto the road or someone coming along and spotting an easy mugging!

God’s Hotel (Galway Catherdal)

Situated on the banks of the River Corrib in Galway city, Galway Cathedral is the most recently built of Europe’s great stone cathedrals. I didn’t have a tripod so had to balance my camera on the roof of my car.

London Town

I took this photo taken from the eighteenth floor of The Jumeirah Carlton Tower, London. The London Eye glows like a ball, which stands out I think. The exposure was 10 seconds and I used the windowsill as my tripod.
