Inner City Dublin (Recession Blues)

In k.Buildings & Architecture by admin / October 2, 2013 / 0 Comments

Inner City Dublin has, what people call ‘character’. What can mean poorer areas with colourful, talkative characters and nice community spirit. Conways is/was on Thomas Street in Dublin city but looks like it’s been out of business for quiet a while. I’m not sure what kind of a business it was.

Brussels Skateboarding Park (Heaven Is a Halfpipe)

Brussels Skateboarding Park

During my recent holiday in Brussels I came across a skateboarding park and snapped some photos of the kids hanging out there.
I returned two days later with my sports lens and some dedicated time to capture the skateboarders in action. But, unfortunately there was only a few very young kids there and they weren’t throwing any great shapes. Still, I like the vibe in these photos and think I caught the ‘too cool for school’ attitude of the kids.

Let’s bring out the Liberty Bell (Shandon Bells, Cork)

In k.Buildings & Architecture by admin / November 19, 2011 / 0 Comments

I was originally going to delete this photo but the more I look at it the more I like it, the view from down a side street. The Shandon Bells (official name Church of St Anne) is the building with the clock in Shandon, Cork City. It’s known locally as the “Four Faced Liar” because each face (four clocks, one on each side of the church) show slightly different times.

Limerick Inner City Life (Goldie)

In i. Black&White,k.Buildings & Architecture by admin / November 17, 2011 / 3 Comments

This was taken from the 7th floor of The Savoy hotel in Limerick City. It’s a view of Limerick (or any city) that most people don’t see or, if they do, pay any attention to. It stands out to me as it’s the unseen side of a city, the ‘behind the scenes’ part without any shiny shopfronts.

On a vaguely related note I always pay attention to the condition of the toilets in any establishment. Sometimes you have an extremelly fancy restaurant/store but the toilets are very basic or even dirty. Which my mum always said to me is a reflection on the establishment overall. If they can’t bother to keep the toilets clean how can you trust them with the hygeine of your food, after sales service etc.
The second photo is just the original cropped and in black and white. I couldn’t decide which I preferred so I posted both.

Colours and colours and colours of colours (Limerick Photowalk)

In g.Colourful by admin / March 21, 2011 / 0 Comments

This is my last set from the Limerick Photowalk (I promise!). These aren’t the leftovers, I have loads of them, trust me. The theme of this set is colour. It was a dull, rainy day in Limerick so I sought to seek out colour amongst the drabness and dullness.

It was a very pleasurable walk and nice to see some first-timers join us. I’m looking forward to the next one already.

Also here’s a video of some of my photos from the photowalk- Limerick Photowalk video.

In The City (Limerick Photowalk)

This is the third series of photographs from the recent Limerick City photowalk. This lot are a mixed bunch, my favorite of them is the fake flower necklace discarded in the wasteland.

Urban Discipline (Limerick Photwalk)

In b. Abstract/Arty by admin / March 14, 2011 / 1 Comment

Part two of my Limerick City Photowalk. The theme of this group of photographs is urban. I think some of these photographs show that you can find a picture anywhere/in mundane places. I like to try to shoot stuff other than the standard snapshot of cities (landmarks, main sights etc).
